I would like to start my update this month by thanking Thirteen member John Latter for his dedicated 29 years of service to our organisation, following his recent retirement. John was instrumental in the creation of the Community Orchard and he is often found around the town maintaining the trees and outside spaces owned by the charity. His expertise regarding trees has been invaluable and those of you who have enjoyed an apple crumble or pie from the Community Orchard owe it John and his vision. Thank you John.
I am pleased to report that this year’s Beating of the Bounds took its normal format and was very successful, with a good turn out and some new faces – thank you to Feoffee Richard Cooper for leading and to all those who assisted with refreshments at the Market Hall afterwards.
It is almost that time of year again, please look out for our team towards the end of November when we will be completing the annual decoration of the Market Hall with lights and trees, ahead of the Town’s Christmas celebrations.
The charity was also pleased to recently support a local student going to University with a grant of £250 for equipment.
Finally, we were all saddened to hear of the passing of past Thirteen member Verity Lloyd, and as a mark of respect a minutes silence was held at the start of our October meeting. We send our condolences to Verity’s family and friends.
If you think we may be able to help you or your group with an education or training grant or if you would like volunteer to help us or wish to know more about the work we do in our town, please visit our website – www.thefeoffeesoftetbury.co.uk - or speak to one of our members.
