The Beating of the Bounds is an Anglo-Saxon ceremony associated with harvest time and has taken place in the town for hundreds of years. Beating of the Bounds ceremonies can be traced back to AD 470 but earlier ceremonies were held by the Romans..

The Feoffees of Tetbury meet with town residents and other influential people annually, normally in September under the Bath Road Bridge under the Arches. The walk is opened by the town reverend and then led by a current Feoffee who gives a guided walk around key landmarks in the town. The walk terminates at the Market House where Tea and Coffee is served and the Feoffee accounts and other artefacts are displayed to the town.
